FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL AT THE STAR COMPLEX
DESIGN | CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT | ANIMATION
Two Texas Traditions
There is nothing bigger on Friday night in Texas than high school football. While at Geronimo, we collaborated with McJ to create a graphics package for Whataburger’s sponsorship of the Friday Night Football program at the Star Complex in Dallas featuring some of the premiere high school programs in the state. A Texas legend in its own right, Whataburger saw the opportunity to support Frisco ISD High School football at a level beyond traditional fanfare through vibrant and spirited motion design on synchronized screen arrays throughout the stadium. We were proud to be a part of the team dedicated to celebrating these two iconic institutions – Texas High School Football and Whataburger.
APPROACH
The approach to the assignment was to create something that provided an elevated game night experience for the players, their families and students alike. We developed a broadcast inspired graphics package steeped in school spirit. These modular animations were designed to play on various screens throughout the Star Complex.
Team Pride
We developed 3D helmet and logo assets as well as over 80 unique custom banners that feature each school’s unique flair and messaging. Whataburger’s iconic stripes are represented in the hallway lockers and also as a signature animated element that visually unifies Friday Night Football and Whataburger.
FULL HEARTS
We wanted to capture the spirit of the high school pep rally and stoke the fan base by representing each school’s mascots and logo with a degree of polish that they had not seen before. Physics based rendering at 20K resolution allowed us create an eye popping 5 screen welcome for for all ten Frisco ISD teams.
